Winter Park, Florida, Red-Light Cameras

Presently, as of January 27th, Winter Park, Florida has red-light cameras installed at two intersections.  These intersections are at Temple Trail & Howell Branch Road, and Temple Drive and Howell Branch Road.  Red-light cameras will be installed in the near future at four more intersections in Winter Park.  These intersections are at Lakemont & Aloma Avenues, Orlando Avenue (Hwy 17-92) & Lee Road, Orlando Avenue (Hwy 17-92) & Fairbanks Avenue, and Orlando Avenue (Hwy 17-92) & Orange Avenue.  The Howell Branch intersections were chosen after a 2009 study revealed a high number of "incidents" such as car accidents.

Orange County, Florida Red-Light Cameras

Orange County has recently stated that it will add forty (40) more red light camera intersections by the end of 2012 and forty (40) more the year after that.  More money for Orange County and the State of Florida (Orange County does not keep a majority of the money but gives it to the State) and more Violations and Tickets for the public. Orange County presently has 10 intersections where red light cameras are set up. Orange County Mayor Teresa Jacobs claims that these red light cameras save lives. Jacobs also said that if, in fact, they do prove successful at reducing accidents, then more could be on the way (and they are on the way). The ten intersections where the cameras will go up now are as follows:  John Young Parkway & Central Florida Parkway, Dean Road & University Blvd., Lake Underhill Rd. & Dean Road, Oakridge Road & Texas Avenue, Hiawassee Road & Clarcona-Ocoee Road, Hiawassee & Old Winter Garden Road, Oak Ridge Road & John Young Parkway, Alafaya Trail & Lake Underhill, University Blvd. & Rouse Road, and Chickasaw Trail & Lake Underhill Road. Tickets will begin to be issued on February 28th and carry a $158.00 fine for a Notice of Violation.  If the Notice of Violation is not paid within thirty (30) days a Uniform Traffic Citation will be issued and the fine will go up to approximately $250.00.

Auto Insurance Coverage for Central Florida Car Crashes--UM

Injured in a Florida auto accident because of someone else's negligence? What if there is no insurance on the other side to compensate you for your pain and suffering (your medical bills will be paid from your insurance no matter who is at fault-see our other blogs). That is the purpose of Uninsured Motorist Insurance, often referred to as UM.  It is designed to pay for your pain and suffering (if you aren't at fault) if there is no insurance on the other side.  It is recommended that you carry Uninsured Motorist Coverage because there are many uninsured drivers on the road.  Usually, Uninsured Motorist Coverage is combined with Underinsured Motorist Coverage. Its purpose is, as its name suggest, to compensate you for your pain and suffering (if you are not at fault) if there is insurance on the other side, but it is insufficient to compensate you for your injuries. This is a brief overview of Uninsured/Underinsured Auto Insurance Coverage.  For a more detailed analysis of what is covered and what isn't covered you should contact your auto insurance company. If you have been in an auto accident in the Central Florida area and have questions regarding insurance coverage you should contact The Malone Law Firm for the answers you need and the help you deserve at (407) 872-7888, toll free at 1-888-9MALONE, or tmalone@maloneaccidenthelp.com.
